On Scene Instructors

Aaron Heller is a 26 year veteran of the fire service and a captain in charge of training for the Hamilton Twp. NJ Fire District #9. Capt. Heller is a NJ Level 2 instructor and fire official and EMT. He is a past chief of the New Egypt Volunteer Fire Company and Chairman of the Plumsted Township Board of Fire Commissioners. Heller is an instructor with the Mercer County Fire Academy. Capt. Heller instructs at several national, regional, and local training events. Aaron is a founding member of the Jersey F.O.O.L.S chapter of the Fraternal Order Of Leatherhead Society. He is the owner of On Scene Training Associates, LLC.


Bill Hopson is a 33 year veteran of the New Jersey Fire Service. He started his career in 1978 as a firefighter for the Seaside Heights Fire Department and currently serves with the Beachwood (NJ) Fire Department. Since October of 1986, he has served as a Deputy Fire Marshal, for the Ocean County, NJ Fire Marshal's Office. From 1998 to 2002, he served as the Fire Training Coordinator at the Ocean County Training Center - Fire Academy. Bill is a State of New Jersey, Division of Fire Safety Level II certified Fire Service Instructor. He is a published author with both Fire Engineering magazine and the Fire Department Training Network. He is the Lead Instructor and creator of the FDIC H.O.T. evolution "Fixed Burn Building Instructor Training" and has instructed at FDIC, FDIC East and FDIC West. Since 1999, he has also instructed for the New Jersey Division of Fire Safety for both Rutgers University and Kean University. Bill is a certified State of New Jersey, Hazardous Materials Technician and is certified to instruct several National Fire Academy field courses. He is a licensed Fire Official and Fire Inspector for the State of New Jersey. Bill is a founding member of the Jersey FOOLS chapter of the Fraternal Order Of Leatherhead Society and is a past president of the organization.


Lt. Dave Gallagher is a retired Lieutenant of the Huber Heights, OH Fire Division with over 30 years of line experience in career and volunteer departments. He is the president of Brigade Instructional Services, Inc. which specializes in Firefighter Survival, RIT and Truck Company Operations. He is a nationally known Hands-On-Training Instructor for FDIC, Firehouse Expo, and Firehouse World in Engine/Truck Company Operations. He has authored several articles for many of the national fire service trade magazines. Lt. Gallagher is also a Pro Boards certified fire instructor. Dave is a charter member of the Miami Valley FOOLS.


John "Bart" Simpson is a 32 year veteran of the fire service. He started his fire service career with the Peters Township Fire Department (Pa), where he held the rank of Captain. John then moved to Florida where he has worked for Palm Bay Fire Department, Titusville Fire Department and is currently employed by Osceola County Fire Rescue and is assigned to Tower Ladder 72. He has held the position of Training Officer with all the departments he has worked for. John currently teaches at The Central Florida Fire Academy and has taught for Brevard Community College Fire Training Academy. He has also been an Instructor at FDIC, Firehouse Expo, Firehouse World as well as teaching nationally and internationally. John is one founding members of the Fraternal Order Of Leatherheads Society (FOOLS International). John has been an instructor with On Scene Training Associates since 1995.


Lt. Michael Ciampo is a 4th generation firefighter, currently he is a Lieutenant in the Fire Department of New York, and has been with the Department for 20 years working in Ladder 44 in the South Bronx and Ladder 45 in Washington Heights. Prior to working in the FDNY he spent five years with the District of Columbia Fire Dept., working in Ladder 3 and Rescue 3 and served as a Volunteer Firefighter in the Wyckoff, NJ F.D. He is a Certified NY State instructor and is the Lead Instructor for the FDIC Hands- On-Training Ladder program and is a frequent FDIC lecturer. He also is a Hands On Instructor for FIREHOUSE World & Expo in the engine/ladder operations class. Lt. Ciampo is a contributing editor to Fire Engineering Magazine. He has taught at numerous seminars and conferences around the country.


Carl Haddon is the national training director for the 5 Star Training Academy sponsored by Volvo North America and serves as a deputy fire chief and fire commissioner for the North Fork Fire Department in Idaho. He is a career veteran of more than 25 years in the fire and EMS service in southern California and has served since the early 1980s as a fire/safety director for numerous racing organizations, including Penske Motorsports, NASCAR, USAC and Mickey Thompson Racing. He is a certified Level 2 fire instructor and teaches auto extrication classes across the country. Carl also does consulting work for several fire service equipment manufacturers. He is a columnist with Fire Apparatus Magazine.


Capt. Michael Clark is a 44 year veteran of the fire service he has served as a firefighter, officer, and instructor. Mike retired as a captain from the Hanover, NH Fire Department in 2009.He currently serves as a senior staff instructor with the New Hampshire Fire Academy, an adjunct instructor with the National Fire Academy and a Structural Collapse Technician Instructor II with the National FEMA/USAR response system . Mike is a Firehouse Expo instructor specializing in truck and engine company operations. He has an Associates degree in fire protection and is an NFPA Level 4 instructor. Capt. Clark is a member of the New England FOOLS.


Lt. Steven Gillespie is a 17 yr member of the FDNY. He is a LT assigned to Div. 7 in the Bronx. Previous assignments include 13 yrs with Squad41 in the South Bronx. Part of the Special Operations Command (SOC), he is trained in various technical rescue specialties, including Confined Space, High Angle, Trench Rescue, Collapse Ops. and Haz Mat Technician. He is a Nationally Cert. Level II Fire Instructor and has worked at FDNY Probationary FF School, FDNY Technical Rescue School and at FDIC as a HOT Instructor and Lecturer.


Lt. Tom Decker retired after 28 years with the Cherry Hill (NJ) Fire Department where he served as a Lieutenant on Ladder Company 24. Tom has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Environmental Science. Lt. Decker is an instructor with the Camden County Fire Academy and has served as a H.O.T. Instructor with FDIC and FDIC East. Tom is a NJ Level 1 certified fire instructor. He is a founding member of the Jersey Fraternal Order Of Leatherheads Society and currently serves as the Vice President. He is a frequent instructor on Truck Company operations and RIT.


Firefighter Art Bloomer is firefighter with the Kearny N.J. Fire Department, assigned to Station 2, housing Squad 2, Tower 2, and Technical Rescue 2. Art is also a member of the Brick Township Fire Department, Station 24, where he is a past Chief and commands the township's Technical Rescue Team. He is also a Rescue Specialist with New Jersey Task Force 1. He is a NJ certified Level II instructor and currently is a Lead Instructor for the Ocean County Fire Academy, Northern Division, teaching Truck Company Ops, Special Operations, USAR, and Incident Command. He has been a H.O.T. Instructor for F.D.I.C. and is currently teaching both classroom and H.O.T. Workshops for F.D.I.C. He is also the President of the Jersey F.O.O.L.S. chapter of F.O.O.L.S. International. Art has over 30 years on the job.


Chief Mark D. Antozzeski has been in the fire service since 1983. Antozzeski is currently the career Fire Chief with the Hamilton Township Fire District #9, Hamilton, New Jersey. Antozzeski is a former U.S. Air Force military firefighter, rising through the ranks from Airman through Sergeant operating in the positions of Firefighter/Driver/Operator/Crew Chief/Inspector while stationed in the United Kingdom at RAF Upper Heyford, and at McGuire AFB, New Jersey. He received three U.S. Air Force Achievement Awards for Outstanding Service between 1988-1990. Antozzeski has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Fire Science from the University of Maryland, University College, in College Park, Maryland. He completed the National Fire Academy Executive Fire Officer certification. Chief Antozzeski was a lecturer at the FDIC East 2005 conference in Atlantic City, New Jersey. He is also a NJ State Division of Fire Safety Certified Fire Service Instructor Level II. Antozzeski works as a part time instructor at two county fire academies: Mercer County Fire Academy in Lawrenceville, New Jersey and Burlington County Fire Academy in Mount Holly, New Jersey.


Capt. Steven Kraemer is a 21 year veteran of the fire service currently serving as the Captain of Truck 13 in Hamilton Township, NJ Fire District #3. Steve began his career as a volunteer with the White Horse Fire Company of Hamilton Twp. He is a NJ level 2 instructor as well as a Confined Space instructor, and an NJ EMT. Captain Kraemer also instructs at the Mercer County Fire Academy.


Capt. Ronald N. Murdza is a 24 year veteran of the fire service, currently serving as a Captain with the Hamilton Township Fire District #9. Murdza is a NJ Level 2 Instructor with the Mercer County Fire Academy, teaching many Firefighter 1 classes as well as Fire Official and Inspector courses. Captain Murdza holds a Bachelors Degree in Fire Science from the University of Maryland and is currently enrolled in the Masters Degree program at Andrew Jackson University. He is a NJ licensed Fire Official, Fire Inspector, and EMT. Captain Murdza also serves as an EMT with Mansfield Township Emergency Medical Services and is the Treasurer of Hamilton Township Professional Fire Officers Local 284. He is also an accomplished web designer for many emergency service departments and local businesses.


Firefighter Sean Golden is a 13 year fire service veteran currently serving as a firefighter with the Hamilton Township Fire District #9. Sean began his career as a volunteer with the Enterprise Fire Company of Hamilton, NJ. Prior to working in Hamilton, he was a career firefighter / EMT with the Bordentown Township Fire District #2. Sean has been an instructor with the Burlington County Fire Academy teaching Engine Company operations and the Firefighter 1 program. He is a founding member of the Hamilton Township Fire Department Pipes & Drums Band.b
